Chronic hives since 2013

Anyone else on Doxepin, if so good or bad?

So chronic hives since March 2013, been on Xolair for 4 or 5 years (can’t rent how long). Now Xolair is failing for the past few months and I hiving and taking a crap ton of meds. Pics are today of my legs, this is how my arms look too. My dermatologist wants me start on cyclosporine but I do NOT want to, it comes with enough side effects I do not want. So today I called his office to tell them.i would like my Vitamin D checked and I would like to see if I can get an increase in Xolair. The nurse called me back and I will get my Vitamin D checked and they are going to try to get me more Xolair..they are going to work with a Xolair rep and my insurance. Praying it works. Then he prescribed me Doxepin in place of hydroxyzine because it works better. Anyone else on Doxepin, if so good or bad?

I used Doxepin at night. It was great, it made me sleepy so I got a good nights sleep and woke up with barely any hives, although they would come back during the day. I’m on Blexten(Bilastine) now and rarely get a big breakout.

Tania Easton ah ok.. 25mg is a low dose… wishful thinking for me.. I have been up as much as 100mg smh

Purusha Jones-Shearin oh my goodness. I’ve taken 50mg once and was completely knocked out.

I was prescribed 50mg and it did nothing. Couldn’t sleep, still itched.

I did one pill last night and so far not impressed. I will try two tonight. I itched all night

Meredith Johnson this is also an antidepressant, so I would surmise it could take atleast 4 weeks to show results.

Do not increase your dosage unless you are familiar with antidepressants or instructed by your doctor. Psychosis / mental breakdown can be caused by increasing your antidepressant dosages too fast.

Mine are 10mg pills they said to start out with 1 pill and I could take up to 3

Update: I was approved for Xolair every 2 wks! If you have allergy induced asthma that’s a way to get them to approve Xolair every 2 wks!!

I’ve been on Xolair for several years and it worked like a charm. For the past few months I’ve been getting itchier and itchier and I’m afraid it’s not working any more.
