Does everyone’s hives always appear the same way or can it change?

It’s something completely separate?

Need some info for my 9 yr old. He’s had this condition for 3 years now off and on. His hives have always appeared the same way, raised red patches of skin anywhere on the body. Today he has developed a pimple like rash, not sure if it’s the hive condition appearing in a different way or if it’s something completely separate? Does everyone’s hives always appear the same way or can it change? Thanks

Mine are different depending on the trigger. Cold is more like big blotchy red patches with big hives, but heat and certain foods trigger small little bumps. Pressure is also very different and take the shape of the pressure point. What are his triggers?
Btw, very sorry your son has this. My 10 year old also has it. 😢

Cindy Kobayashi Thank you, sorry also, it’s really puzzling and frustrating as a parent. His triggers, that I know of, are usually dry weather since we are in southern CA, artificial coloring in junk food, and also pressure. But the hives have always appeared the same way, apart from the pressure points. Right now he has small red bumps, some have a white head like a pimple. If it’s not better in the morning I’ll probably take him to the doc. Thanks for the info!

Kelley Ortega that does sound like something other than hives. Probably nothing serious but definitely worth having a doctor look at it. I hope you get it sorted out.

Cindy Kobayashi thank you

Mine are different. Some are small red bumps and others have a ring around them.

Jennie McHenry Fullenweider Thanks for the info, just when I think I got this under control for him, something new pops up 😔

I know the feeling. I am on a strict diet and still breaking out.

Kelly just a thought here my daughter doesn’t have utercaria but does get a red bumpy rash when she gets strep throat….could be that

Jennifer Effertz Thanks, are there any other symptoms besides the rash?

Google “milia.” They’re white pimple-like bumps due to clogged pores and build up of dead skin that should be exfoliated. Check with your dermatologist.

Alice Au Thank you, I did. But they are larger red bumps.

Update: Went to the pediatrician, he said he strongly believes it’s the hive condition presenting itself in a different form. Maybe due to a virus, or weather, anything really. Relieved it’s not anything serious, but also bummed because these new hives stay on his skin for days, while his usually hives go away within the hour. I hate this disease
