I got my first xolair shot yesterday morning
Anyone else had this after the xolair shot?
I got my first xolair shot yesterday morning. Hives came last night, right on schedule. They aren’t bumpy though it’s just the hive itchiness and red inflamed skin. I really really want this xolair treatment to work and was hoping I’d be hive free by today. Anyone else had this after the xolair shot?

Amanda Firestone DuVall I am in Australia and have submitted the paperwork to get it for $40 but it takes weeks to be approved. Looks like may have to spend another $433 for 2nd shot if paperwork not back soon. I was so incredibly sick the day of needle I actually wud have paid double for it. Its enabled me to finally get off Prednisone after 7 weeks. X

For me xolair did not start working before after the second shots. It also says here in Norway (in the papers with the shots) that full effect is not expected Before 12-16 weeks. So just hang in there.

We all are unique..some 100% results with 1st shot, others takes awhile and some never.

Was advised it takes three months to saturate the body. I’m 10 months in and sometimes get a flare the day or night of the injection and feel tired and pain for 3 to 5 days post. I stretch my injections to every 6 weeks now bc of it. 85 percent hive free the rest of the time

Soren J Ateri I got my third injection yesterday and last night and today I’m having a bad flare. So you feel this is normal? Also I feel super tired and body aches after too.

Yup I get body aches tired joint pain sometimes flare a few days then it goes away

Just a question…..when hives are finally managed with xolair…..if it works for you…..do you have to continue “maintenance” shots or can you stop getting the shots?

Kimberley Ann I “weaned down” to 6 weeks in between shots and then just started going without them. Got “maintenance” shots for about 4 months after totally clear.

It took at least 3 shots to start showing progress. By 8/9 months I was in remission.

It takes time. It sucks, but just be patient. I’m about to go for my 3rd shot, and I’ve had little to no hives in the last month.

I believe the NICE guidelines in the UK recommend 6 months (1 shot a month) before they assess whether it’s working. My daughter is just about to have her 6th injection. Results seem to vary between injections and at the moment it’s not controlling her condition but she is very stressed with Uni exams so that may be playing a role. Looking forward to the summer break.
