I have been dealing with chronic urticaria for 7 months

I have been dealing with chronic urticaria for 7 months now and I just wanted to let everyone in on something that works for me. I was prescribed Zantac, zyrtec, and hydroxizine for the itch. After months of taking 4 to 6 zyrtec a day, it was doing absolutely nothing for my hives. I was miserable. Covered from head to toe and so itchy I thought I might literally go insane. Not including the pain and swelling it cause on my face and mouth. The hives were so bad that my skin would bruise after the welts went down. I just decided to try something different and ran through the gauntlet of allergy medications. Obviously zyrtec wasn’t working.
The one and only thing that works for me is claritin and Zantac together. If the doctors prescribed you zyrtec and it’s not effective just try allergy medications until you find something that works for you. While the hives aren’t completely non existent..I notice that about 45 minutes after I take claritin they are almost gone and I haven’t had a single problem with my face swelling. It’s worth a shot. Stephany Boyles Believe it or not those photos are mild. I was too embarrassed to show the bad ones. I was so miserable now I can at least go to work and not call out so much because of my face. It’s a start to a better life anyway I’m grateful I found something that half ass works!

Holly Hutchinson Im trying to find what works for me. How many Zantac are y’all taking per day with the antihistamines? Unfortunately, when my face swells and breaks out the prednisone is all that works for it:(

El Fraser Has everyone seen my posts regarding use of a Tens unit for itch? It is working for me not eliminated “all” my hives because I have them everywhere – but stopped hiving in one of 2 really rabid areas (ribs) and halted 4 days at a time on my upper arms (area 2) which truly make me nuts. See my posts – plugs in my name at top of page under Chronic U. banner it will pull up posts. This is a NEW finding. I have been hiving nearly 6 years. I am now using the Tens unit if not daily – every few days on the worst itchy bits.
