I have never been before and I am curious about the process

I am trying acupuncture tomorrow.

I’m trying acupuncture tomorrow. It is covered by my insurance and it has been associated with reduction in hives in medical journals. I have never been before and I’m curious about the process. Any improvement would be a bonus. Does anyone else do this?

UPDATE: Had my first visit this afternoon. It was very interesting and unfortunately, not covered by insurance as I thought – but it is actually quite reasonable, so I’ll try it for a while. The whole first visit was about 3 hours total, after taking a comprehensive review of my health and symptoms (over an hour), he laid out a course of treatment that focused on immune, energy, and pain points. I had needles in my feet, ankles, shins, knees, chest, scalp, forehead, arms, and elbows. Oddly, I had zero hives or itch the entire appt (which is very unusual) before I even saw him…and they are back this evening, so I don’t know what that was about. I felt a bit euphoric after the session, but that quickly turned into exhaustion and a bit of nausea in the evening. It will be a couple of weeks before I’m back in town and can go to a second session, but all in all, it was interesting and worth a try. I’ll report back if I have a miraculous remission. 🙂

I go for acupuncture every week, initially for relief of hives, but it didn’t help. It DOES help me for lots of other stuff though so I keep going.

Interested! I’ve considered it on and off again. If you would post under this comment about your experience and keep updated on hives, I would appreciate it!!

I will definitely follow up. I don’t know if there will be relief after one session, but I’ll give everyone a run down.

Please keep us updated on your progress.

Alissa Trollinger
Absolutely. It’s a 1 1/2 hour appt and I had to list all my medications. Bleh. That was sobering.

Not really related but we have a dog who was paralyzed in her back feet. We found a vet who is a Chiropractor and practices acupuncture. After 3 sessions and a few weeks, she was walking like nothing was ever wrong. I don’t understand how it works but it worked for her.

I did it and it helped me. Be prepared for multiple visits weekly tapering off as you improve. I found it to be very relaxing.

It helps with my neck pain I think it seems to reduce the severity but I’m not sure if it’s coincidence or not as I was prescribed something for h. Pylori too

I have heard that it is not effective for CIU. I did use it to quit smoking 30 years ago.
