I have suffered with hives my whole life

I have suffered with hives my whole life! I have cold water urticaria. I’m allergic to a crazy amount of things, especially chemicals and preservatives. I also have Celiac Disease and my allergist thinks I may have DH which goes along with celiac. About 8 years ago I suffered from major hive issues and went to countless doctors, dermatologists, and allergists. I found one that helped me to identify all of my triggers and after removing all of those items I was hive free for 4-5 years. Then 2 years ago the hives came back and they will not go away. The doctors have tried numerous steroid creams, steroids, antihistamines.. Nothing seems to work! Besides taking oral steroids, but I have terrible side effects and then when I get off of them the hives come back with vengeance! I’m ready to be better! Here is a picture of my ongoing problem- hives on my hands for the last two years and wrist- recently started going up my arms as well.

Joanne Benson Have u tried Amitriptyline?

Beverly Adams Henry No, I haven’t. Does it work well for hives? When I searched online it said it is an antidepressant.

Joanne Benson It’s a weird one that’s used for many things it was designed for depression but doesn’t work very well !! I was given it for pain and to help me sleep but it didn’t work but my hives vanished completely

Joanne Benson What are tricyclic antidepressants?
Tricyclic antidepressants, such as amitriptyline and nortriptyline, were once widely used as antidepressants before being replaced by newer antidepressant medications with better side effect profiles. Other uses of tricyclic antidepressants include the treatment of insomnia, enuresis and chronic pain syndromes such as fibromyalgia.
The tricyclic antidepressants are finding a place in the treatment of chronic pain and itch associated with some dermatological conditions.

Beverly Adams Henry Joanne Benson, Wow! That is definitely something to look into. Thank you!!! I’m ready for these hives to be gone!

Mary Catherine Cash o so sorry

Jennifer Glover I suffer from heat but my next door neighbor has urticaria which stems from cold. She gets her hair dryer out to relieve the symptoms. Would this help you?

Jennifer Glover Also we’ve both tried Aveeno with Shea butter which has helped us both with any dry skin we have. Hope you find something which helps
