Wow I can’t believe it has co e to this but …here is my storey.
Went on a great vacay and came back home woke up to a swollen lip 3 mos later hives cover my arms legs and back constantly unless I’m on steroid. This is 3rd cycle of prednisone. No hives today and just found this site but burning arms back neck and ears. I am driving myself and family nuts with this!
O yeah doc says I have ciu…tried a xolair injection a week ago but hives came back worse than ever.
Really impacting my work and family as some days the hives or burn or both are intolerable especially when bottom of feet palms of hands and in my neck. I have never had hives before!
Please tell me this eventually gets better!
Good luck to all!

Where did you go on vacation? Have you been checked for parasites?
Most parasite tests come back negative. Our parasite tests in the USA are a joke. Sad.
Try Menthol Cream on the hives. Good luck, 10 years plus suffering and feel as useless as day 1
Ask about a medication called hydroxyzine. It makes you quite sleepy but it helped keep the hives away at high doses. Lay off prednisone—it causes a rebound effect with more hives every time you stop. And Xolair may help in the long run. It took several months before I could rely on Xolair (also take Zyrtec and Singulair) because Xolair needs time to work.
Hydrox made me worse ugh
my last round of steroids was almost 5 weeks ago, I haven’t had any since then, I can’t believe it
Avoid strong perfumes, use mild soap, skim and scan each food. Try one at a time. See which increase the reaction.
Sorry bud it’s affecting my life too I wish I knew how to help
Same, couldn’t go to my senior prom because i missed too many days of school 😔
Go see a Functional MD or Integretive Dr. They are the only ones who get to the root issues. Mine was diet, stress and leaky gut. I had to change lifestyle and stop eating gluten, refined sugar and do major gut healing. Finally after 3 years of bad doctors and meds that suck, I’m hive free.
Did you do the ketogentic diet?
No, mainly raw vegan
My partner had some good results when he avoids certain things ( alcohol, preservatives in food, industrial food, hard physical work and pressure points…) but i guess you have to find what works for you. Being generally healthier improved his condition a lot as well as trying to live stress free, good luck with that!
Despite all the efforts he will have crisis sometimes but way less bad than in the past.
He stopped to take any sort of medication to control his hives as we noticed it comes back worse.
Best of luck for those who suffer, chronic pain is fuckin hard…
Hives can happen because of infections and viruses, so I’d want to make REALLY sure I hadn’t picked something up on holiday. And definitely get tested for Thyroid antibodies since autoimmune thyroid disease can also cause chronic hives.
Processed sugar causes my hives. After a year of it & my doctor not doing anything to figure it out, my daughter suggested diet change. I spent a couple weeks figuring out what seemed to cause it. Processed sugar. Fruits don’t seem to have the bad effect though. Now I need to figure out what else is messing with me. I also need a new pcp.
