I don’t know many people that want to deal with the uncomfortable bodily sensation of hives. They can be a bit embarrassing, they itch like there is no tomorrow, and they can cause you a lot of discomforts. So most of us are looking for answers in the form of finding out why we keep getting hives.
You may have been wondering, “Why do I keep getting hives?” and it’s a valid question.
When you’re dealing with hives, it can be hard to get your mind around what’s going on. You probably don’t want to think about the fact that you might have an allergy or that your body is reacting to something in the environment. Instead, you just want it to stop fast!
Why do Hives keep coming back?
The answer lies in our immune system. Hives are an allergic reaction response by your immune system to a trigger that causes it to release histamine and other chemicals into your bloodstream.
Histamines cause blood vessels to dilate (open wider) and become leaky, allowing fluid from inside your body cells to leak out into surrounding tissues. This results in swelling, redness, and irritation at the site of the trigger (e.g., bee sting).
The problem is that once this happens, it takes time for your body’s natural processes to return things to normal again which often means another round of hives will appear somewhere else on your skin while you wait for things to settle down again!
If you’re finding yourself with hives more than once a week, it’s time to start thinking about what might be causing them.
First, check your diet.
Are you eating lots of spicy food? There’s a chance that the chemicals in the peppers are causing your body to release histamine and cause the reaction.
If so, try cutting back on spicy foods for a while, or taking an antihistamine like Benadryl before eating something that could cause problems. You can also try adding more foods with vitamin C to balance out the acidity of the peppers like oranges!
If that doesn’t work, it’s time to take a look at your lifestyle. Are you stressed out?
Hives are often caused by increased stress levels in your body so if you’re feeling overwhelmed or worried about something, in particular, consider taking some time away from those things until your stress levels have gone down again.
Are you getting enough sleep?
Sleep is crucial for regulating our immune systems—if we don’t get enough sleep, our bodies don’t have time to recover from anything stressful that happened the day before! So make sure to get plenty of rest each night!
