I finally got scheduled with an allergist/immunologist in 2 weeks and I’d like to hear from some of you on what to expect and be prepared for what questions to ask him. I’ve had hives everyday since February 2019. I take Zyrtec, Zantac and Benadryl regularly and they usually clear up mid morning and then the next batch starts mid afternoon to evening that’s if I have any relief at all. I’m so tired of people saying how can you all the sudden be allergic to something that severe but I do not feel like it is an allergy at all.
I have triggers of course but I don’t think any of them are the culprit. Praying this new dr will help me get my life back. I’ve been on tons of medrol dose packs and I’m usually clear while on it but not this time. This is a VERY minor outbreak for me but even with a Kenalog shot on Tuesday, started a medrol dose pack yesterday and still taking my regular daily medication regimen, I’m still having breakthrough.
The first few photos are from today and the rest are some of my other outbreaks here and there. I’m so tired of living like this, as I know we all are. I feel disgusted with my body and everything about myself the last 6 months. I’m really not here to whine but just hoping for good vibes and advice for my upcoming appointment from my fellow hivers of this group! Thanks for taking the time to read my post!

Lynn Lucas Gould Sorry you’re going through this. I hope you can get some relief with the new doctor you are seeing. In the interim, you could try watching your histamine intake. Not a cure, but can help with the severity of the outbreaks. Everything on the list should be avoided.

Bailey Miller Lynn Lucas Gould yes I have definitely followed that! I’ve completely changed my diet and basically is boring plain grilled stuff. I sure hope I can get some help! I have two daughters and I feel like I’m completely letting them down. Thanks for the thoughts

Stacey Stanfill Harris Have then check for Hashimotos will need to do thyroid antibodies, then they need to check to see if it is autoimmune. Where you have a reaction to your own blood serum. I would have the doctor rule out every possible thing regardless of what he “thinks” it is. Been down that road with my daughter. Good luck.

I’d love to not be loaded up on meds every day and try to lose the 30 lbs this has made me gain. I’m tired of not being able to be 100% for my daughters!

Stacey Stanfill Harris My daughter has to take levocetirizine every night as preventive. It is the active ingredient in Zyrtec. You can get over the counter but if the dr writes a
Script and insurance coveres it it’s usually cheaper and if they don’t cover it look into a discount card and you will probably come out cheaper then over the counter. That is if it works for controlling your hives.

Bailey Miller Stacey Stanfill Harris I self diagnosed myself with hashimotos after reading about it and talking with my mom the other day! I have pretty much every symptom down to a T besides the enlarged thyroid (that I know of yet). I’m curious to see what happens with all the testing.

Elizabeth Mullins Bailey Miller no enlarged thyroid ever here. I have had Hashimoto for twenty years. But you can’t self diagnose that. You must run a full thyroid panel.

I have been to many allergist and dermatologist. They will only treat the symptoms. And not the cause. And not very well.

It’s all about the detox pathways and finding your root cause. Your liver is not cleansing properly and your gut biome is off. This is the root cause of hives. With that said I am not practicing what I preach. It’s hard to fix.
